Welcome to Suring

About Suring

As with most of towns and villages in the area Suring was first recognized as a lumber town with a sawmill, gristmill and trading post being its earliest businesses. Today, Suring has grown to a population of 544 residents. Suring is located on the 45th parallel, which places the village halfway between the North Pole and the equator.

The Oconto River flows through the village. It is the result of the joining of the North and South Branches of the Oconto River. In addition, the Peshtigo Brook and the Linzy Creek also flow into the Oconto River. This was one of the reasons Suring was attractive to the early loggers as it was a major way to move the timber from the area south on the river. Now, the river serves as a point of recreation, providing fishing, canoeing and kayaking.

To the north of Suring is the Nicolet National Forest. This national forest offers tons of different activities from pristine hiking trails to crystal clear lakes for unparalleled fishing. The forest also provides a great opportunity to see some wildlife, including Bald Eagles. The forest extends from Anderson Lake all the way up to Lac Vieux Desert.

With tons of recreational opportunities, Suring is a place to call home. Check out one of the listings below and see what Suring is all about!
