Trempealeau is located along the Mississippi River in Trempealeau County. Trempealeau has a population of about 1,630 residents.
Around the Trempealeau area there are so many different things to do, such as checking out the Perrot State Park. Within the park there is a campground right on the Trempealeau River, right before it feeds into the Mississippi River. The camp sites all get a good view of the river, along with the Trempealeau Mountain and the other bluffs and natural formations in the area. These scenic views are only enhanced by the sunset over the Mississippi River every evening. Just northwest of the campground is the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge, a 6,446 acre wildlife area that is home to many different species of animals and the Great River State Trail. The wildlife refuge is truly a sight to see and is a great place to spend a day connecting with nature.
Downtown Trempealeau is one of the many historic downtown districts in Wisconsin, featuring buildings from days of old. One of the oldest buildings in the district is the Trempealeau Hotel & Restaurant. The restaurant is known for it’s tavern atmosphere and high class dishes. These dishes range from high quality burgers to fresh seafood and prime cuts of steak. The European-style menu is sure to please those with a taste for high-quality dishes. When you need a home-style breakfast but don’t want to do the cooking yourself, head to the River Cafe where they serve breakfast Wednesday-Monday from 6:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. The breakfast brings in people from all around and is recommended. If lunch is your thing, you can get it everyday after 11 A.M.\
